About us
Tracked Earthworx was built around quality equipment, experienced operators, attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job properly.
Blake has been operating excavators and working in the industry since 2013. Before starting the business he worked in the mining sector away from home and on local civil projects, picking up a broad range of excavation and earthworks experience across both.
He also came up through a trade, as a carpenter. That background is where the fussiness about set-out, tolerance and finish comes from — and it carries straight through to how the machines are run and how the business is managed.
Blake established Tracked Earthworx in 2020. He handles estimating, program, site delivery and client liaison himself, so the person quoting your job is the person accountable for it.
We are a family-run business based in Logan Village, servicing South East Queensland. Since 2020 the majority of our work has been in the civil and roadworks sector, along with subdivision projects, working to head contractors’ programs.
We have built the business around quality equipment, experienced operators, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety, reliability and delivering work to a high standard.
Capability
Most of our work is civil and roadworks, along with subdivisions. Supplied as a full package on a schedule of rates, or wet hire to your program.
Stripping, cut and fill, benching and levelling. Material handled, placed to layer and shaped to the design surface.
Subgrade and batter trimming straight to the model. Tolerance held where the surface goes to the next trade untouched.
Formation and widening, boxing out, subgrade preparation, pavement support, kerb line and table drain works.
Lot filling and shaping, road and service corridors, staged residential earthworks alongside the other trades.
Stormwater and sewer trenching, pit and headwall excavation, bedding, haunching, backfill and compaction.
Rock breaking and ripping, rip-rap and batter protection, access tracks, hardstands and sediment basin works.
Blake Ormerod has been operating excavators since 2013, through the mines and on local civil jobs, and started Tracked Earthworx in 2020. Trade background as a carpenter — which is where the fussiness about tolerance comes from.

Machine control
Every machine in the fleet is GPS equipped. The operator works to the design surface on screen instead of chasing pegs and string lines — and that changes the economics of a civil job.
Design surfaces and control accepted in the formats your surveyor issues.
We work as a subcontractor to civil builders and head contractors across South East Queensland. Every one of these companies has run their own prequalification before letting a machine on site — and put us on anyway.

Safety
Safety is a major priority for the business, and the record backs it up.
Lost-time injuries / zero recordable incidents since 2020
We report hazards and near misses actively and close them out, and every machine and crew is inducted before it starts.

Coverage
Based in Logan Village, mobilising across South East Queensland on our own float. If your site sits outside this list, ask anyway — travel is usually workable.
Questions
The things head contractors and builders usually ask us first.
Both. Wet hire puts our machine and our operator on your program, with maintenance, GPS and compliance carried by us. Dry hire supplies the machine on its own to contractors running their own crews, delivered serviced and compliant with a documented handover on and off hire.
Excavators from 5 tonne through to 50 tonne, so we can put the right machine on the job rather than the only one available. Attachments include tilt hitches, general purpose, mud and batter buckets, screening buckets, rippers and hammers.
Yes. Every excavator in the fleet runs Trimble Earthworks machine control. We accept design surfaces and control data in the formats your surveyor issues, and check the machine against site control before work starts.
Three ways, depending on how the job is set up. Wet or dry hire at an hourly or daily rate; a schedule of rates for measured items claimed progressively; or lump sum against drawings and specification with a clear inclusions and exclusions schedule.
Yes. Task-specific SWMS for the scope, plant risk assessments, service and pre-start records, and operator competencies are provided with our pre-mobilisation pack. We complete site and Principal Contractor inductions before starting.
It depends on what is committed at the time. Call with the site, the scope and the dates and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot cover, rather than promising a start we cannot make.
Commercial
Not every job is priced the same way. If the work suits the fleet and the program suits us, there is usually a deal to be done — have the conversation before you rule us out.
A two-day hire and a six-month commitment are not the same job, and they should not carry the same rate. Where there is continuity of work we price accordingly — extended hire, staged programs and ongoing subcontract work all get sharpened rates rather than the standard day rate.
We are based at Logan Village and most of our work sits inside South East Queensland, but the patch is not a hard line. Where the scope and duration justify it we will mobilise further out, and we will be upfront about what travel and accommodation actually adds to the number.
For established contractors running their own crews and tickets, we can supply machines on dry hire. Delivered serviced, GPS equipped and compliant, with a documented handover on and off hire, and a maintenance arrangement agreed up front.
Where a program needs the earthworks compressed, we can put more than one machine and operator on the same site and work them as a crew rather than as separate hires — priced as a package.
